McKean County Recycling Program - Services & Grants
Services
The McKean County Recycling Coordinator assists McKean County with developing and implementing the waste reduction, reuse and recycling of organic waste, household hazardous waste, special collections, illegal dumping and litter control components of the McKean County Municipal Waste Management Plan. The coordinator serves as a community resource to both the public and private sectors in the following ways.

Serves as a liaison and contact for the waste reduction and recycling industry and fields questions within the county.

Provides technical assistance to municipalities in developing, coordinating and implementing waste reduction and recycling programs.

Assists municipalities and businesses in identifying recyclable materials that can be marketed and helps to locate those markets.

May assist municipalities, schools, businesses, and institutions in preparing recycling grant applications they wish to submit and prepares grant applications for the county

Facilitates recycling educational programs and strategies for the county, municipalities, schools, institutions, businesses and industries.

Coordinates meetings, training programs workshops and conferences pertaining to recycling.

Facilitates inter-municipal cooperation and cooperative efforts of other organizations to further waste reduction and expand further recycling opportunities.

Collects data on municipal, commercial, institutional recycling and reports that data to the state.
