McKean County Veterans Services

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To oversee the general operation of the Department of Veterans Affairs in so far as County record keeping of veteran files and reviewing veterans and their dependents claims.
2. Follows through on claims so that each County veteran and their dependents receive the maximum entitlement they are due.
3. Assist the County Commissioners in administering the provisions of the County code which relate to the burial of deceased service persons and their widows and furnishing markers and placing headstones on their gravel.
4. Assist war veterans and their families in securing their rights in such matters relating to their person, property, and care of family under any of the laws of this Commonwealth and the United States.
5. Assist the County Commissioners in transmitting record of burial places of deceased service persons to the Adjutant General of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
6. Serves as custodian of veteran's discharge orders for recording and security purposes.

Mission Statement:
The Department of Veteran's Services strives to assist the McKean County veterans and their dependents in any way possible in securing the county, state, and federal benefits to which they may be entitled. This office works cooperatively with McKean County government offices, state, federal agencies, and veterans' organizations to administer these benefits and services to the citizens.
