Benefits Package

Medical and Prescription Insurance: All eligible employees have the option to enroll in Group Health Plan coverage. The County of McKean may pay a portion of the premium cost of the coverage for each individual employee. Employees may elect additional coverage for their dependents, with additional costs deducted from employee’s wages. More details can be found here.

Dental Insurance: The County of McKean covers the cost of this benefit package for eligible employees and their dependents. This benefit is intended to provide protection against costs incurred in routine dental care. More details can be found here.

Vision Insurance: The County of McKean covers the cost of this benefit package for eligible employees and their dependents. This Plan is designed to provide protection against the cost of necessary vision care, including examinations, lenses, frames and contact lenses. More details can be found here.

Life Insurance: The County of McKean has established a Group Life Insurance Plan to provide basic protection for all eligible employees in the principal amount of $50,000. The intent of said insurance is to provide protection against the death of the employee. The cost of life insurance coverage is paid entirely by the County of McKean.

Retirement Fund: The County of McKean provides for a Retirement Fund in addition to Social Security. Participation in the Retirement Fund is mandatory for all eligible employees. The basic requirements of the fund are established by the McKean County Retirement Board who administers the fund locally and handles investments related to the fund within the parameters of state legislation.

Employee contributions are at a rate of 7% of gross salary with an option to contribute up to 17%. All employee contributions at a minimum of 7% are sheltered from Federal Withholding Tax until the date of withdrawal. Employer contributions are made as needed based upon actuarial findings.

Vacation Time: Eligible County of McKean employees accrue vacation time on a prorated monthly basis in accordance to their years of service.

Holidays: The following legal holidays may be observed as paid holidays for all regular full-time employees in compensable status:

Sick Time: Eligible employees earn one and one-quarter (1 ¼) sick days for each calendar month of employment during each calendar year.
